Year 6 - Miss Steventon

Welcome to Year 6

Hello and welcome to Year 6’s class page.

My name is Miss Steventon and I am excited to be teaching year 6 again this year. We are fortunate to have two experienced and amazing teaching assistants working with us and supporting us in Year 6: Mrs Kent (HLTA) and Mrs Phelan.

Every half term, I will be updating our class page to inform you about the children's learning journey and areas of focus for the upcoming weeks.

Please can I take this opportunity to remind you that PE kits need to be in school for Monday of every week. Whilst scheduled PE sessions for Year 6 are on Thursday and Friday, sessions may change due to differing circumstance therefore PE kits must be in school on Monday.

Homework: Homework will initially be handed out termly and will be a project with additional tasks to complete. Year 6 will be taking part in Co Jo this term so there will be additional homework set fortnightly for this.

Reading is a priority and a key to so many opportunities. Please ensure your child is reading a minimum of twice a week and you complete their reading journal with a signature and comment. Children are encouraged to read as much as they can at home, even if it’s just a couple of pages an evening.

Children will also be provided with a spelling list expected for their year group. They are to practise these spellings as often as possible. Evidence of this can be recorded as they choose in their homework book.

Thank you for your continued support
