Summer Term 2

Week beginning Monday 7th June

This term we will be choosing a new story each week to inspire our learning and continuous provision. For the first week we haves chose Sally and The Limpet because it was Miss Baileys favourite story when she was little and the lovely sunshine  definitely called for a little bit of beach learning. We had fun learning about rock pools and how they are created and the types of creatures that live in them. We learnt that Jellyfish have been around since before dinosaurs! We started our learning on number doubles, and the children have been amazing at recalling these and using the resources available to work it out. With Mrs Skitt we have been learning to play the keyboard and creating some beautiful music. A super week back Reception!

Week beginning Monday 14th June

This week our story has been The Heart and the Bottle, a beautiful story by Oliver Jeffers about a little girl who looses her curiosity about the world. The children have really enjoyed this story this week and I have loved all of the discussions we've been having about their own curiosities, so far this week. Below is some of the wonderful writing we have been doing about the story.

Week beginning Monday 21st June

This week the story with the most votes was The Way Home for Wolf, the children have really enjoyed this story and used it to inspire some lovely writing and finding out about other Polar animals and learning about the Northern Lights. Children have demonstrated amazing teamwork this week by creating some lovely maps to help Wilf find his way home.

Week beginning Monday 28th June

This week the children chose to focus on the story The Smartest Giant in Town, there has been some lovely role playing in the giants clothes shop and some amazing suggestions on how else George might help other animals on his journey around the town. We had a go at creating the Giant a new tie using a new painting technique with powder paints, that although a little messy was great fun and made some wonderful patterns! In our maths lessons we looked at shapes and even learnt about a dodecagon. Amazing learning this week everyone. :) We also celebrated Noah's trophy that he won at football, congratulations!

 Week beginning Monday 5th July

This week we have joined in with sports week with the rest of the school. We have absolutely loved taking part in a different sports day activity each day, even in a little bit of rain! We did the sack race, space hopper race, wellie wanging (with a teamwork aspect to stop our toes getting too soggy), egg and spoon race, target throwing and lots more. When it got to wet we played a sports day board game indoors and even made our own medals using clay. Of course there was also a lot of football talk and playing too!
