Welcome to Mrs Cliff's class. We are a mixed year 4 and 5 class who will be working together to cover some fantastic topics over the coming school year. With the help of our brilliant HLTA, Mrs Davies, we will be working as a team to investigate, reason and reflect as we explore our new topics.
45EC Weekly Routines
PE kits are to be brought into school on a Monday and taken home on a Friday. Earrings need to be removed for P.E. so please ensure your child knows how to do this as school adults are not allowed to remove earrings for them. Please can you ensure that your child's PE kit is appropriate to the weather - jogging bottoms and hoodies/jumpers for outdoor PE lessons.
Reading is a vital part of children's education. Not only does reading build up children's vocabulary and language skills but it also develops their imagination and helps in all areas of the curriculum. Please can you encourage your child to read at least 3 times a week and record this in their reading record to earn team points. Talking and questioning, about what your child has read at home, will also build on their comprehension skills.
Rapid recall of number facts, such as number bonds and times tables, aid in maths fluency and problem solving. The government have recognised the importance of times tables and have introduced a statutory times table test for all year 4 children in 2019. To that end, please can you encourage your child to practise their weekly times tables, particularly focusing on 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9s throughout the year. Your child has an individual login for Times Tables Rockstars (https://ttrockstars.com/login). They have individually targeted times tables which will help them to progress throughout the year. 'Hit the Button' (https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button) is an excellent game to practise the rapid recall of times tables also. Children will be rewarded with team points for recalling their times tables with accuracy and speed.
Many thanks for your support. We look forward to a busy and happy year. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Davies.
