Welcome to 56JB! My name is Mrs Barfield. 56JB are a mixed Year 5 and 6 class who will be working together to achieve our goals this academic year. With the support of our amazing HLTA, Mrs Bayliss, we will be working as a team to reason, problem solve, investigate, reflect and challenge ourselves as we explore our new topics.
56JB have outdoor PE on Monday afternoons and indoor karate on a Thursday morning. Please can you ensure that your child's PE kit is appropriate to the weather - jogging bottoms and hoodies/jumpers for outdoor PE lessons.
Please can you encourage your child to read at least 4 times a week and record this in their reading record to earn team points. Talking and questioning, about what your child has read at home, will also build on their comprehension skills.
Rapid recall of number facts, such as number bonds and times tables, aid in maths fluency and problem solving. Please can you encourage your child to practise their weekly times tables. There are a range of videos on YouTube that the children could listen to which sing the times tables and are really engaging and fun!
Every Friday the children will do a spelling test of between 10 and 11 spellings from the Year 56 National Curriculum Word List. These spellings can be found in the child's reading record and their homework books.
Many thanks for your support. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to speak to contact us.
