Year 6 – Miss Steventon

Welcome to Year 6

Hello and very warm welcome to Year 6’s class page.

My name is Miss Steventon and I am very excited to be teaching year 6 again this year, even in these uncertain times!  We are fortunate to have many adults working with us this term: Mrs Kent, Mrs Boakye and Ms Wilding.

We are trying our very best to keep your children safe and happy whilst they are in 'our bubble' and hand washing, hygiene and social distancing, where possible, are a priority in keeping your children safe.  Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get your children back into a routine and try and catch up on any work that they missed during the pandemic.  We appreciate that children may be anxious and a little worried in the first term and we are doing everything we can to ensure they are settled.

Every half term, I will be updating our class page to inform you about the children's learning journey and areas of focus for the upcoming weeks.

Please can I take this opportunity to remind about dates and activities.  Our PE lessons this term are every Tuesday and Friday and your child MUST come into school in their PE kits on these days to try and prevent any unnecessary risks.

Homework: Homework will initially be set via Purple Mash and your child should have an appropriate log on, which they are aware of, to complete the activities set.  On alternate weeks, your child will complete an English or Maths activity.  If your child wishes to complete additional activities online using Purple Mash, please feel free to allow them to do so; there are an abundance of activities on there that are suitable for their age range.

Despite reading journals no longer being used, reading is still a priority and is a key to so many opportunities.  Please ensure your child is reading a minimum of twice a week.  We will also be reading with your child in school but children are still encouraged to read as much as they can at home, even if it’s just a couple of pages an evening.  Reading books can be returned to school on Friday and redistributed the following Monday to all 72-hours handling.

Thank you for your continued support
