Reading and Writing
This half term we continue reading the book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' by Michelle Magorian. We are looking forward to studying a book by a famous English author who won the 1982 Guardian Prize for her book. It has now been adapted several times for the screen and on stage.
We will be using our knowledge of WW2, our class text, Goodnight Mr Tom and our DT unit of Make Do and Mend to write a persuasive letter and a narrative.
Geography
This unit will focus on meridian lines, in particular the Prime Meridian line which divides the Earth into eastern and western hemispheres. We will also study climate zones, weather patterns, latitude and plants and animals within ecosystems. We will understand that Biomes are large areas that share similar climates and be able to identify some.
Maths
Our spiral curriculum sees us revisit fractions, this time adding and subtracting fractions and converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. It will also see us revisit place value, this time focusing on negative numbers.
RE
In RE we will be exploring the concept of Salvation. We will look at the Stations of the Cross and understand how this shows Christians that Jesus is the Messiah. We will explore how the sacrament of communion helps Christians to remember Jesus' sacrifice and recognise how different Christian denominations celebrate communion.
