Autumn Term 1

We welcome Ms Solomon to our class this half term who will be covering for Mrs Barfield as she receives treatment for breast cancer.

Our theme for Autumn Term one is Road Trip USA!  This will be a geography focused unit with a focus on US states and the Iroquois tribe of Native America.

We will start the unit with a memorable experience - A trip on an aeroplane to different US states!

Other exciting opportunities will include: learning about the Iroquois tribe, looking at artefacts, making totem poles, learning about famous US landmarks, improving our map reading skills, recognising the different states of the USA and even a food tasting experience!

Our reading book focus this term will be: The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks

RE - What do Christians learn from the creation story? (Digging Deeper)

This unit builds on our previous learning in Year 3. In this unit we will learn:

  • How humans spoilt their friendship with God.
  • Recall the story of Adam and Eve and how they gave into temptation.
  • Know that God wants to be close to humans again so helped us by giving us The 10 Commandments.
  • To know what the terms steward and caretaker means and how we can become one.
  • Understand that not all people believe that God made the world.
