Our learning this half term will all be focused around our topic 'Make do and mend' This is a DT unit in which we will learn a range of simple sewing stitches, including ways of recycling and repurposing old clothes and materials.

Here are some examples of the sewing and pin cushions we made:

Also check out the fun from our 'make do and mend' fashion show...

"Today, we worked in groups to design our very own outfits by repurposing using old clothes and household items to create an outfit fit for a Red Nose Day catwalk.

We had to ‘make do and mend’ with the items we were given and were creative creating two piece ‘co-ord’ collaborations made from table cloths, dusters and blankets. We also created lots of other designs including jacket made from t-shirt and netting. We learnt the meaning of some new key words including re-use, reduce mend, adapt and re-purpose."

Reading and Writing- This half term we will be continuing to read the book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' by Michelle Magorian. We are looking forward to seeing how Mr Tom is still growing and developing as a person and can't wait to find out if Willie is allowed to stay living with him.

Maths- We will be studying how to calculate the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes as well as studying fractions and how to find the quantities of an amount.
